My Story
In May 2024 one of our best friends John was diagnosed with MND. It had already been a tough 18 months as at the beginning of 2023 John was diagnosed with prostate cancer. In the may he was operated on and towards the end of 2023 things were starting to look up for John and his family after receiving the news that the operation was a success and the cancer was gone. It was time to celebrate a better year in 2024.
However not long after, John was having problems flexing his foot, we wondered if it was a result of the operation.
My husband and John started to joke and call it his flappy foot but gradually it got worse till he needed a walking stick to help him walk and then he needed a second.
Although he had many hospital appointments for tests and scans to see why he was struggling to walk there was no diagnosis until May 2024 when he was told it was MND.
This was a huge blow after what he’d already been through for John, his wife, his family and his friends.
I can’t run for toffee but I’m running 31 miles in January to raise money for MND Association, I’m doing this for John and his family and all the other strong, resilient people like him who are dealing with this cruel disease in the hope one day there will be a cure.
Six people are diagnosed with motor neurone disease (MND) every day in the UK. However much you can donate, £10 or £100, will make an impact. Anything helps.
Thank you for your support!
